Today while I was in my office a package arrived from Random House and I immediately was curious. I was so excited to find my friend and author Jacqueline deMontravel’s new book “hers” design with a feminine touch. I love the cover shown here and found pages full of inspiration inside. What a great subject for a book… lots of feminine touches to incorporate into your own home.
One of my favorite ideas is to mix fashion and home… here vintage meets glam. To my surprise my own home was featured…here with one of my bedrooms. I forgot about this shot and still love the color palette. Lots of feminine cremes, blues accented with silver.
I love a room with a portrait especially of a woman. I am often left wondering who she might be and why she was having her portrait done. I love the way a portrait adds personality to a room. This painting is perfect inspiration for the color palette of this living room. Soft feminine gray mixes with soft black and golds. Understated and elegant.
Sometime it is the simple touches that remind us of what is feminine and soft. Flowers always make a space feel pretty.
Another way to add a feminine touch to the main entrance is with “nudes”. Nothing speaks more than portraits and nudes. Subtle nudes work best and keep the “art” of a nude painting or drawing in focus.
Enjoy finding more feminine details, rooms and ideas on how to bring out the feminine side of your home… Leave a comment on this post to be chosen to receive a complimentary signed copy of “hers”. Winner will be chosen March 15th.

Very nice
My favourite picture here is the one from one of your own bedrooms, with the blue and silver. Didn’t know it was your home until after I read. I would love to win the book
I like the idea of the nudes, but not nudes. Would it fit in my lake house?
I would love this! Ah so beautiful, just my taste
What beautiful snippets! I love feminine style. Can’t wait to see the rest of the book!
What a wonderful idea for a book! And, you are brilliant to bring up using portraiture as a room feature. Can you imagine the conversations that would start in the first living room concerning the large piece of the woman framed in drapery wearing the lovely yellow dress? Even if her background was unknown you could make up such wonderful tales, couldn’t you?
I love feminine & curvy in the bedroom especially!
I so love a beautiful feminine room

I agree with Louise, the picture of your blue bedroom is breathtaking!
We moved from China back to the USA and our new house is so colonial. The pictures of the book are very inspiring, as I am going through the process of decorating the entire house. I love the blue fabric of Anettee Tattum on a bed. I purchased all my new bedding fabric for my younger daughter from your store: the grand peony fleur and the pink stars. My daughter loves it and the other daughter keeps asking for the Anettee Tattum bedding fabric in Lilac. I will put some Pine Cone Hill’s white shams and sheets with the pink and lilac duvet. It will be beautiful, romantic, as we will make a matching balloon valances from the Anettee Tattum fabrics for the both girls’ bedrooms. Thank you so much for your inspiration and a great quality fabrics!
What a gorgeous book . . . I could truly be inspired with those gorgous pictures! Thank you so much for a chance to win! So upset today that I MISSED purchasing the Large Provençal Pitcher on One King’s Lane. It sold out before I could get to it! Will I have another opportunity?!
Thank you so much Iwona! We love to hear how our designs and fabrics inspire customers and we appreciate your kind words so much. Feel free to send us pictures of your daughter’s beautiful rooms once they are finished. You just never know what we may want to blog about next…!
thanks for this!
I am a fan! Thanks Annette. Best, Jackie
