I like finding nursery design inspiration in unexpected places—a favorite book, a time period or a place you want to visit. There is something about the French Riviera that reminds me  of childhood. Perhaps it is the playful spirit of the sea in summer, or the bold use of child-like colors such as sea blue and lemon yellow, or the fact that it is simply a playground for adults… the Côte d’Azur has long been a source of inspiration for designers and artists alike. You can always count on a bouquet of umbrellas polka dotted along the shore to cook up fun pinwheels of color. Perhaps it is the natural elements, the color of the sky at sunset, the sparkling turquoise shores and the clean sandy beaches that offer the perfect backdrop for any ensemble. From a fresh glass of lemonade to a picnic by the sea the roots of childhood summers are anchored here.

Bright umbrellas line the coast and beautiful colors decorate the buildings in the French Riviera. Design inspiration is everywhere.

Wall art can set the mood in the nursery. I love these simple, yet stunning prints: Beach Umbrella from alicebgardens on Etsy and Coral Print from vintagebytheshore on Etsy.

A simple mobile, from Flensted Mobiles, is perfect for the little sailor, inspired by the multicolored sailboats in the marinas.

I love maps in any room, and this map pillow, from saltlabs on Etsy, would be perfect with colorful bedding to complete the look. The Soleil Sky Boudoir pillow is from my Little House collection.
